Report: Construction in Europe 2022

£0.00

In 2021, the revenues in construction in Europe amounted to EUR 2.7tr, as the sector recovered from COVID and still benefitted from the monetary and fiscal stimuli put in place across the countries. Although this momentum continued in first quarter of 2022, the war in Ukraine completely altered the outlook since. The higher interest rates and the extraordinary increase in energy costs – which are a key input of the sector – combined with the stagflation affected business confidence and private purchase power. On top of these short and medium-term challenges, the sector faces long-term risks, such as the increased importance of green construction, the reduction in energy-intensive processes and technological change to reduce cost and time.
